Charles Henderson Middle School students practiced chivalry Friday. The boys arrived at school early in order to open the car doors for the girls as they were dropped off. “This is that age where they need to start seeing what it’s like to be a gentleman,” said Aaron Brown, CHMS principal. “We are very big on respect at Charles Henderson Middle School.”

Charles Henderson Middle School students practiced chivalry Friday. The boys arrived at school early in order to open the car doors for the girls as they were dropped off, but it doesn’t stop there. “Throughout the day, the young men are expected to get at the back of the lines when they go to one location to another location,” said Aaron Brown, CHMS principal. “Young men need to see that all of that is part of chivalry. It’s not denying yourself, it’s just showing that this is what it takes to be a gentleman.” The boys would also offer to carry items for the girls during chivalry day.

The boys and girls at CHMS dressed their best Friday for chivalry day. “When we dress up, guess what else goes up – our behaviors,” said Aaron Brown, CHMS principal. “We are smiling more. Why are we smiling more? Because we look good, and other people are telling us that we look good. When you look good, you feel good.”
