Home sweet home

Inside out finds new home, keeps same products

Published Thursday, June 18, 2009

A local antique and gift shop, Inside Out, recently found a new home on Elba Hwy.

“We got calls from some of our customers that it was hard to find the shop or even get to the shop,” said co-owner Elizabeth Motes of Inside Out.

The shop was located in a log cabin on U.S. Highway 231 by the Troy-Luverne overpass.

“This location on Elba Highway is much better, and we are right off of 231 so all of our customers can reach the shop much easier,” Motes said.

After finding a new location and deciding to move, the hard work began.

“We renovated this house for a month, and after the antiques and merchandise were moved to the new location, we opened up,” Motes said.

The shop offers high quality, one-of-a-kind items ranging from bridle gifts to hand made birdhouses.

Barbara Ward, another co-owner, and her husband, Dwight, build and decorate the birdhouses.

Inside Out not only offers gift ideas for almost any event, but they also offer unique antiques and services.

“Inside Out is a shop that does not just offer merchandise, we offer our services with an in-house decorator,” Motes said. “The decorator can also decorate weddings and other events.”

With a large variety of services and merchandise, Inside Out can supply many residents with ideas for gifts and conversation starters.

“Anything you get here is handmade and one of a kind,” Motes said. “This makes our gifts have memories attached to them and makes them more of keepsakes.”

The owners have many items from their own interests, and they also select handcrafted items for local artists.

“All of our items are high quality and most of our items are made by local artists. We wont sell anything less,” Motes said.

Regardless of what sort of gift idea residents of Pike County are looking for, Inside Out has ideas for anyone from all walks of life.

Inside Out is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is closed Sunday and Monday.
