John Henry Adair
John Henry Adair, 77, of Troy, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 1999 at his residence.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999 at Clay Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Coffee County with the Rev. J.C. Fryer Jr. of Wilkins Town officiating. Burial will follow at Clay Hill Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery with George F. Grubbs Funeral Home directing.
Adair was born Sept. 3, 1922 in Pike County to James S. and Emma Jane Key Adair. He attended Pleasant Ridge School in Pike County. He was an excellent farmer and a member of Clay Hill Missionary Baptist Church. His hobbies included fishing and hunting.
Survivors include 11 children, William Henry, Sammy Lee (Grace), Alvin Douglas, John Thomas (Jean), Ruby Mae (Barry), Nathan, Richard James (Joyce), Barnese (Leon), Alfred, Larry (Shelly) and Walter Lewis (Stephanie), two brothers, Franklin and W.J. Adair; 24 grandchildren including Derrick Ware, 14 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be his 9 sons, William Henry, Sammy Lee, Alvin Douglas, John Thomas, Nathan, Richard James, Alfred, Larry and Walter Lewis Adair. Floralbearers will be Silver Queen Grand Chapter of O.E.S., P.H.A.
Lotherene Bruce (Sister) Brown
Lotherene Bruce (Sister) Brown, 78, of Goshen, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1999 at Baptist Hospital in Montgomery.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1, 1999 at Dillard Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Green officiating. Burial will follow at Hopewell Cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include a brother, Guy Bruce of Goshen; a sister-in-law, Jackie Bruce of Luverne; a niece and nephew, Bobby and Georgette Bruce and John and Linda Montgomery; great-nieces and nephews, Bryson Montgomery, Mary Ann Montgomery, Beth Montgomery, Hannah Bruce and Josh Bruce.
Pallbearers will be David Coggins, Robert Williams, John Ganey, Ronnie Gardner, Will Tate and Alan Carpenter.
Memorials may be made to Flowers Memorial or to the Gideons.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1, 1999.
