Joe L. Blount, 77, of Troy, died Monday, August 14, 2000 at his home.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 16, 2000 at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy with the Rev. Danny Doss and Dr. Jim Sanders officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Memorial Park with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Martha Bell Blount of Troy; children, Martha Jo Blount of Mobile, Carol (Jimmy) Goff of Montgomery, Bill Blount of Montgomery, Jane (Russ) Cash of Troy; grandchildren, Holly (Jason) Bingham of Montgomery, Wilson and Jesse Blount of Montgomery, Tripp and Kelly Cash of Troy; sisters, Pauline Orr of Decaturville, Tenn., Martha Robertson of Greenwood, S.C.; niece and husband, Judy and Tom Boyd of Troy; and a host of other nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Charlie Hughes, Bobby Outlaw, Edgar Prescott, Paul Watkins, Bill Rice Sr. and Jimmy Lunsford. Honorary pallbearers will be David Conrad, Roger Grenon, Colonel Henry Kelly Grenon, Dr. John Finklea, Dr. Mike Gordon, Charles Synco, Russ Rice and Milton McKeller.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Troy.

Carroll Lawrence

Carroll Lawrence, 90, of Troy, died Tuesday, August 15, 2000 at Edge Regional Medical Center.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, August 17, 2000 at Green Hills Memorial Park with the Revs. Thack Dyson and Dr. Ed Walter officiating and Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.

Survivors include his wife, Ellen Spangler Lawrence of Troy; a son, Roberts (Bob) Lawrence of Troy; a sister-in-law, Sarah T. Lawrence of Eufaula; a niece, Anne Lawrence (Tom) Ballenger of Eufaula; a nephew, James T. "Jimmy" (Kathy) Lawrence of Birmingham; and a great-nephew, Tolbot Lawrence of Birmingham.

Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at Dillard Funeral Home in troy.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Baracca Class at First Baptist Church or St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.
