Little Miss Troy to be held April 27

The Little Miss Troy Pageant, sponsored by the city of Troy and the Twilighter’s Service Club, will be held at 7:30 p.m. April 27 at the Troy Elementary School auditorium.
This is a preliminary pageant to the annual Peanut Festival Pageant held in Dothan.
In order to participate, the child must be between the ages of 3 and 10 and must reside in Pike County and attend a Pike County area school (public or private) .
The pageant will be divided into four divisions: Tiny Petite Miss Troy, preschool ages 3 and 4; Petite Miss Troy, kindergarten ages 5 and 6; Little Miss Troy, first grade and Young Miss Troy, second grade through 10 years.
Winner of the Little Miss Troy division must be scheduled to enter the second grade in the fall of 2001. She will compete in the Peanut Festival in October.
Little Miss Troy will receive a crown, banner and prizes donated by local merchants. All contestants will receive either a medal or trophy and must be available for parades, ribbon cuttings and other city and county activities.
Each contestant must have a sponsor (business, organization or family). The sponsor fee is $40 per contestant with a portion being donated to the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life and the Murphree Park renovation project.
Deadline for entries and fees is April 24. Entry forms will be circulated at area schools and at Kinetic Energy Athletic and Performing Arts Center.
Tickets for the pageant are $5 and may be purchased at the door. Children under the age of 3 will be admitted free.
