Troy split a pair of games over the weekend at the Troy Dixie Majors Sub-District tournament in Opp.
Troy was handed a 13-0 loss by Eufaula in the opening game of the tournament, but rebounded to win a 5-3 decision over Georgiana on Monday.
Troy played Luverne in a Tuesday afternoon game.
Kelvin Tolver pitched against Georgiana and surrendered eight hits, while striking out seven batters. Tolver also led Troy at the plate with three hits, including two basehit RBIs.
Matt Floyd’s only hit of the game drove in Tolver to get Troy on the scoreboard initially and Troy opened up the lead with a four-hit fourth inning to put them up 4-3. Brandon Hooks led of the fourth with a double and Jay Money followed with a single to bring Hooks home. A Chris Nickson sacrifice fly scored Wes Johnson and Tolver finished off the scoring in the inning with a single RBI.
Nickson was driven home by Tolver in the sixth inning to round out the scoring for Troy.
Hooks, Jay Money, Johnson and Nickson, along with Tolver, all added hits for Troy.
In the first game on Saturday, Eufaula scored runs in every inning but the second to blank Troy 13-0. Up 5-0 in the fourth, Eufaula used a seven-run fifth inning to finish off Troy.
"That was a game where we didn’t play anywhere near our capabilities," said head coach Brad Money about Troy’s opening loss.
