National team gets contributions from all players

After taking a
win over Ozark to open the district tournament, Troy National fell 12-11 in a hard fought game against their counterparts Troy American, but then bounced back to win four straight and the district championship.
The Nationals beat Dothan American 10-0, ten-runned Troy American, edged Ozark 3-2 and then beat Dothan Southern 11-1 to close the tournament out.
Troy’s hitting was solid with catcher Alex Adams leading the way. Adams had seven hits in 13 at-bats during the tourney, finishing with a batting average of .700. Will Starling batted .636 and Jake Smith averaged .538.William Teal was fourth with a .461, while Jared Rogers and David Fleming tied for fifth place each finishing the tournament with a .454. Anthony McBryde, Ross Hixon, Clay Massey, Wesley Hayes, Lloyd Shillabeer, Wesley Taylor, and Cory Goodson also contributed hits for Troy in the tournament.
Smith was Troy’s top pitcher. The 10-year-old pitched 13 innings, allowed one run, five hits, walked nine and struck out 13. His Earned Run Average was a very low .461. Teal was second in the rotation with 11 innings pitched and an ERA of 1.636. He gave up three runs, eight hits, walked 11 and struck out 14. Starling was the team’s third man, pitching seven innings and allowing eight hits, walking 11 and striking out six, while giving up six runs.
