Red Sox splits pair of games

In recent Troy Amateur Baseball League action the Red Sox split a pair of games, beating the Indians 13-2, while falling to the Braves 10-6 on Sunday.
The Troy Marlins were also winners on Sunday with a 17-3 win over the Pirates.
In their game against the Indians, the Red Sox took control early, scoring seven runs in the second inning. Bill Hughes, Wes Johnson, Tommy Kelly, Adam Diggers, Bill Dasey, Adam Prichett and Chris Smith all scored runs for the Red Sox in the inning.
Jeff Standford and Tim Hoover scored for the Indians in the fifth inning off of hits by Byron Griggs and John Constaple.
The Marlins scored often and early against the Pirates on Sunday night with Brent Newman leading the charge at the plate. Newman went 3-for-5 with two doubles and a triple as the Marlins collected 15 hits on the evening. Terrance Boyd added three singles and a double for the Marlins and Mark Green added two hits.
Brad Garrett had two single RBIs to lead the Pirates.
The Braves stormed back with six runs in the sixth inning to beat the Red Sox 10-6, also on Sunday.
Eric Saninocencio, Jake Kirkland, Jashon Justin, Tom Shea, Jason Smith and Helmet Rivers each scored runs for the Braves in the sixth. Shea and Smith combined for hits in the seventh to send two more runners home for the Braves.
Action in the TABL continues on Thursday night as the Pirates play the Braves at 7 p.m. Sunday’s doubleheader will feature the Red Sox against the Pirates at 2 p.m. and the Braves against the Marlins at 4:45 p.m. All games will be played at Charles Henderson High School’s Frazier Field.
