A.D. Parks, 71, of Banks died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2001 at Edge Regional Medical Center in Troy.
Services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 18 at Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Averyt Walker and Elder Cary Sanders officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Brundidge with Dillard Funeral Home of Brundidge directing.
Survivors include his wife, Joan W. Parks of Banks; daughter, Ann Anderson of Troy; son, Joe Parks of Banks; granddaughter, Magan Anderson of Troy; two nieces, Ginger (Jerry) Barbaree of Banks and Debra (Marty) Barbaree of Banks.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Barbaree, Marty Barbaree, Wyman Botts, Russell Kelly, Steve Thrash and Tommy Waters. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Shiloh Baptist Church.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Friday, Aug. 17 at Dillard Funeral Home in Brundidge. There will be a 30-minute lie-in-state prior to the service.
Grace Sellers Collins Gibson
Grace Sellers Collins Gibson, 97, of Troy died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2001 at Edge Regional Medical Center in Troy.
Services will be at 2 p.m., Friday, Aug. 17 at First Baptist Church in Troy with Dr. Edwin R. Walter, Dr. John Brannon and the Rev. Greg Baker officiating, Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing. Burial will be at a later date.
She was born Sept. 30, 1903 in Perote, the daughter of Frank and Jessie Belot Sellers.
Mrs. Grace Gibson was a beautiful, loving, caring lady who was adored by her family and all who knew her. She was well known for her civic, charitable and community volunteer works in Troy, especially with the First United Methodist Church, the U.D.C., the Pike County Historical Museum/Pike County Pioneer Museum and Edge Regional Medical Center. She was renowned for her cheese straws and other baked delicacies.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Gene Nieves of Troy and Ina Claire Godfrey of Charlotte, N.C.; sister, Isabel Sellers Womble of Birmingham; six grandchildren, Victor (Mary) Nieves, Sharon Nieves Christiansen, Scott Sellers (Bonnie) Nieves, Jack Collins, Martha Grace Collins (Paul) Anderson and Grace Godfrey (Mark) Thomas; seven great-grandchildren, Randall Nieves, Dustin Nieves, Toni Laseter Grant, Preston Thomas, Chandler Thomas, Matthew Anderson and Timothy Anderson; two great-great-grandchildren, Erica Laseter and David Grant; step children, Nell Golden, Sam Gibson and Martha Deveneau.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Gibson; son, John Sellers Collins; two sons-in-law, George Nieves and Phillip Godfrey; brothers and sisters, Joe Frank Sellers, Roy Sellers, Hunter Sellers, Douglas Sellers, Mildred Day, Dorothy Sellers; two step sons, Ferrell and Clark Gibson.
Pallbearers will be Harold Gibson, Tommy Gibson, Scott Nieves, Victor Nieves, Chandler Thomas and Preston Thomas. Honorary pallbearers Charles Norris, James O’Neal, Ray Sullivan, Ed Whaley and Dr. James "Buddy" Brantley.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
Visitation will be 1-2 p.m., Friday at First Baptist Church in Troy.
