The Troy State baseball team will begin fall workouts under the watch of head coach John Mayotte Saturday afternoon at Riddle-Pace Field.
Thirty-five players, including 20 returnees, are expected to report to the first day of fall practice, which will last four weeks. Coming off a 27-28 campaign last spring in Mayotte’s 11th season in Troy, the Trojans are eager to get back on the diamond.
"We have all been looking forward to this part of the fall," Mayotte said. "We have a good nucleus coming back and have had a great recruiting year. As a whole, I feel very positive about this group."
The Trojans will hold their first two intra-squad scrimmages of the fall, Tuesday and Wednesday. TSU will wrap up fall practice with its annual "Fall World Series." The squad will play six games over seven days beginning Oct. 20.
