Troy State soccer returns to ranks of the winning

NORMAL, Ala. ­ The Troy State women’s soccer team defeated Alabama A&M Wednesday, 3-0.
The win was their first in two weeks.
Its last victory came over the same team when they faced off in Troy on Oct. 16.
Freshman Courtney Reeder continues to be impressive as she had two goals and an assist on the day.
The match started off in the Lady Bulldogs end of the field and stayed their for most of the game.
Troy State outshot Alabama A&M 24-7.
Reeder opened the scoring in the 26th minute as she drove down the right side of the field and lofted a shot from 20 yards out over Alabama A&M goalkeeper Jenifer Slaton for a 1-0 lead.
Freshman Lynn Rankin scored the second goal for the Lady Trojans in the 49th minute as took a feed from Reeder inside the box and shot it past the keeper for her third goal of the season.
Reeder struck again when she shot one into the net off of a rebound for her 10th goal of the season.
She is now tied for the team lead in goals and second in total points.
Senior Jessica Murphy recorded her sixth shutout of the season. She now leads the Atlantic Sun conference in that category.
With the victory, the Lady Trojans improve to 10-8 on the season.
Troy State will end its season, when they take on South Carolina State in Orangeburg, S.C.
The match will kickoff Saturday at 1 p.m.
