Mattie Thomas Griffin
Services for Mattie Thomas Griffin, 75, of Troy who died Wednesday, June, 5, 2002, at Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2002, at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Troy with Pastor Julius Buskey officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. Gilead Cemetery under the direction of George F. Grubbs Funeral Home of Troy.
Visitation will be at
noon Friday, June 7, 2002, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Griffin was born Aug. 8, 1926, in Pike County. Her parents were Willie Huey and Flora Thomas.
She was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, president of Deaconess and Lay Women Ministry, Usher and a member of Floral Star Chapter 137 O.E.S.P.H.A.
Survivors include her husband, Moses Griffin of Troy;
seven sons and their wives, Willie and Marti Griffin of Ashburn, Va., Leyvonne and Callie Griffin of Hope Hull, Hubert and Vicki Griffin of El Paso, Texas., James Moses and Jeanette Griffin of Ft. Washington, Md., Steven and Shirleen Griffin of Bowie ,Md., Alexander and Charlotte Griffin of Bongire, Ga., and Robert Griffin of Hagerstown, Md.; three daughters and their husbands, Alyce and Franklin Jones of Fairfield, Iceleen Griffin of Gaithersburg, Md. and Juanita and Paul Zani of Laurel, Md.; one sister-in-law and her husband, Tinnie and Johnnie Cottrell of Pompano, Fla.; fourteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be members of the Meeksville Volunteer
Fire Department.
Flowerbearers will be the grandchildren.
Jessie Ree Roberson
Services for Jessie Ree Roberson, 76, of Troy who died Sunday, June 2, 2002, at Dale Medical Center will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2002, at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. A.C. Johnson officiating.
Burial will be in Elam Cemetery under the direction of Harrison Funeral Home of Troy.
Visitation will be Friday, June 7, 2002, from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Ms. Roberson was born Jan. 8, 1926, in Alabama. Her parents were Patpach Roberson and Leanzy Griffin. She was a housewife and worked at Troy Laundry and served on the Usher Board at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons and wife, Harold and Helen Roberson and R.T. Roberson; two daughters and their husbands, Sandra and James Mathews and Theresa and James Collins; one brother and his wife, Barney and Addie Ruth Roberson; eight grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other friends and family members.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
Floralbearers will family and friends.
Col. (Ret) Robert W. Williford
Graveside services for Col. (Ret) Robert W. Williford of Troy who died Thursday, June 6, 2002, in Bay Minette will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2002, at Green Hills Memorial Park in Troy with Rev. Gary Sanders officiating.
Burial will be under the direction of Dillard Funeral Home of Troy.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. Saturday June 08, 2002 at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Edna Williford.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Williford of Troy; son and his wife, Jim and Joy Williford of Birmingham; daughter and her husband, Alison and Terry Ellis of Daphne; sister and her husband, Eileen and Thomas Walker of Troy; five grandsons, Tristan, Aiden and Ian Ellis and Tyler and Cole Williford;
niece and nephews,
Kristi and Grady Capps and Brent Walker; uncle and aunt, Lex and Ruth Griffin
and an aunt, Oleta Ledbetter.
