A Dothan woman was killed Tuesday night when the vehicle in which she was riding left the road and struck a tree stump.

According to information released by Troy Police Chief Anthony Average, Shamim Husain, 58, was fatally injured in a one vehicle accident around 8:25 p.m. Tuesday on U.S. Highway north of Troy across the highway from Riverside Chrysler.

Husain was transported by Haynes Ambulance Service for treatment at Edge Regional Medical Center where she later died.

Husain was one of seven occupants in the 2001 Ford Expedition. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Sukaina Meghani, 29, also of Dothan. Other occupants were Lubna Tharia, 27; Ghulam Husain, 60 and three children, two boys, ages 6 and 3, and a girl age 1, all of Dothan.

All occupants were transported to ERMC for treatment. The accident remains under investigation by the Troy Police Department.
