Among the local schools participating include the girls teams from Charles Henderson, Pike County and Goshen high schools. Some of the

other schools in the 16-team tournament involve Northview, Dothan, G.W. Long, Geneva, Abbeville, Carroll-Ozark, Enterprise and Dale County.

With a potential two week hiatus awaiting the Lady Eagles during the Christmas holidays, GHS girls head coach Charlie Winchester said he’s happy the tournament will give the Goshen girls extra games to play during the holidays.

"The one thing I want to do is get them more games and give them some exposure against teams that are going to be in the Sweet 16 and the Final Four every year," Winchester said. "It will be good for us because the girls will see the difference in coasting and playing against better competition."

The tournament will be held in Northview’s spacious 2,000 seat gym which includes a parquet floor that gives the teams a good surface to play on during their stay in the Circle City.

The Lady Eagles

also plan to participate in the five team Southeast Alabama Conference Tournament. The SEAC Tournament will be held beginning

Thursday, Dec. 14 at Luverne High School.
