Precautions would not
have saved Earnhardt
Special to The Messenger
Feb. 27, 2001 10 PM
I do not believe that their should be any increase in safety after the recent accident, which caused the death of a racing legend. The death of Earnhardt was unavoidable and extra safety precautions will only hurt the sport of racing. All drivers know that each race could be their last, Dale Earnhardt was no exception. Though his death was tragic, racing will needs to move forward as it always has. As I said earlier, more safety measures will only hurt NASCAR and the rest of the racing community.
