Trade Day in Brundidge has quickly become a popular event for those who follow arts and crafts shows and those whose tendency is toward flea market items.
Trade Day is both an arts and crafts show and a gigantic yard sale and it gets under way at 8 a.m.
Saturday, May 3 on the grounds of the historic Bass House in downtown Brundidge.
There is no admission to Trade Day, but if there were, it would be worth the price, said Jimmy Hollis, coordinator of the arts and crafts show.
In addition to the arts and crafts and yard sale, there will be live entertainment, games for the kids and food to tickle anyone's taste buds.
Hollis said 10×15-foot spaces are available for $25 for arts and crafts booths and yard sale booths are $10.
"We have a variety of high quality arts and crafts, including woodwork, jewelry, teddy bears and rag dolls," Hollis said. "We'll also have several food booths. The Pike County SportsBoosters will have barbecue plates with a choice of chicken or pork. A Cajun cook is coming and we'll have shaved ice, funnel cakes and other festival-type foods."
The Trade Day yard sale is one of the biggest in the area and those who like to shop for bargains will have a hey-day in Brundidge on Saturday.
"You just never know what you'll find at a yard sale so you don't want to miss this opportunity to shop or sale," Hollis said.
A musical backdrop to Trade Day will be provided by local talent including Melinda Barbaree, Arnold Sheppard's Group, The Troy School of Dance and special entertainment provided by Pike County High School.
Medley said the entertainment will begin at 9:30 a.m. and will continue until mid-afternoon.
Trade Day is sponsored annually by the Brundidge Business Association.
Lamar Steed, BBA president, said Trade Day is an open invitation to visit Brundidge and "See What We Have for You."
"We invite everyone to Brundidge for Trade Day on Saturday and we hope that everyone will take time to visit our merchants and see what they have to offer," Steed said. "We have a big day planned and hope to have a big crowd in town."
