Arthur May McBride Johnson

Services for Arthur Mae McBride Johnson, 88, who died August 18, 2003 at her home, are today at 1:30 p.m. at the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Troy with the Rev. Julius Buskey officiating.

Burial will be at the mt. Gillard Cemetery in Troy under the direction of George F. Grubbs Funeral Home of Troy.

Johnson was born Jan. 12, 1915 to the late Callie Grubbs and J.K. McBride. She was a member of the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church and remained a faithful member until her health failed.

She is preceded in death by her husband Clayton Johnson.

Survivors include her son C.J. Johnson of Troy; a step-daughter Thelma Brown of Detroit, Mich.; one sister Vera Mannings of Columbus, Ga.; two brothers Harvey (Betty) Betty Ellis and Joe Pugh, Jr., all of Troy; six sisters-in-law: Birdie Hughes, Tampa, Fla., Dorothy McBride, Montgomery, Ola Mae McBride, Troy, Letta Cotrell and Jenna Raybon, both of Anderson, Ind., and Ruth Johnson, Winter Garden, Fla.; four brothers-in-law the Rev. Izear (Betty) Johnson, Toledo, Ohio, John Wesley (Mary) Johnson, Lonzie (Zepha) Johnson, W.J. Johnson, all of Winter Garden; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Pallbearers are her nephews and cousins. Flower bearers are he nieces and cousins.
