Marvin Keron Vickers, Sr.
Reverend Marvin Keron Vickers, Sr., of Troy, died at Troy Regional Medical Center in Troy, Thursday, June 16, 2005. Visitation will be held at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy on Saturday, June 18, 2005 from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. Graveside services will be held at Green Hills Memorial Park on Saturday, June 18, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Thomas Sowell and Reverend Alan McBryde officiating. Memorials may be made to Blue Lake United Methodist Assembly, 8500 Oakwood Lane, Andalusia, Alabama 36420. The honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Survivors include, sons and daughters-in-law, Chaplain Marvin K. (Carolyn) Vickers, Jr of Enterprise, Walter Perry (Elizabeth) Vickers of Enterprise; daughter and son-in-law, Helen Claire (Malon) Murphy of Troy; grandchildren, Kristin (Jason) Capstraw of Miami, Leah (Captain Josh) Hegar of Germany, Dr. Marvin Keron (Tracey) Vickers, III of Birmingham, Dr. Walter Perry (Stormi) Vickers, Jr. of Mobile, Michelle (Phil) Corso of St. Louis; great grandchildren, Audrey Elaine Vickers of Birmingham, Alan Keron Vickers of Birmingham, Joshua Russell Hegar of Germany, Walter Whitfield Vickers of Mobile; sister, Dorothy Faircloth of Atmore; sister-in-law, Ann Grant Vickers of Demopolis.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen McLeod Vickers, his brother, John E. Vickers and his parents, J.C. and Eunice Vickers. Born in Clay County, Alabama Reverend Vickers was a Minister with the Alabama West Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church for 67 years and was Director of Student Activities and The Alumni Foundation at TSU for 12 years.
