Alton Mahaffey

Services for Alton Mehaffey, 76, of Banks who died Tuesday, November 15, 2005 at Southern Springs Nursing Home in Union Springs will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 17 at Skeen Funeral Home Chapel in Troy with Rev. Wilburn Kirkland officiating. He will lie in state for one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Banks under the direction of Skeen Funeral Home of Troy.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Mehaffey was born January 5, 1929 in Coffee County. He was a retired mechanic and welder in the machinery industry.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marlin and Pearl Ellis Mehaffey; wife, Ruth Mehaffey and a brother, Charles Mehaffey.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Dale and Tina Mehaffey of Banks; step daughter, Gail Moore of Troy; three brothers, A, D. Mehaffey of Cross City Florida, A. C. Mehaffey and J.R. Mehaffey both of Troy; two sisters, Beulah Mae Bundy of Banks and Mary Roten of Troy; five grandchildren, Jessie Mehaffey, Ashlie Mehaffey and Andrew Parks all of Banks and D. J. Yancey and Elaine Atwell both of Troy.
