George Franklin Grubbs
Services for George Franklin Grubbs, 82, of Troy who died in Nashville, Tennessee March 12, 2006 will be at Noon March 16, 2006 at Greater Saint Paul A. M. E. Church in Troy with Rev. Bobby B. Cox, Jr. officiating.
Burial will be in Carroll Street Memorial Cemetery under the direction of George F. Grubbs Funeral Home of Troy.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. March 15, 2005 at the funeral home.
Mr. Grubbs was born July 28, 1923 in Troy. He attended Alabama State University and Cleveland Architectural Institute. He was the owner of George F. Grubbs Funeral Home. Mr. Grubbs was a trustee and Sunday school teacher at Greater Saint Paul A. M. E. Church in Troy. He was also a board member of the Pioneer Museum of Alabama, board member of the Pike County American Red Cross, Alabama State University Alumni Association, President of Carroll Street Memorial Cemetery, Alabama Funeral Directors and Morticians Association. He enjoyed
History, fishing and jazz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dan B. Grubbs, and wife of 42 years, Yvonne Wier Grubbs.
Survivors include his children, Martin Luther Grubbs, Jessica Dannette Grubbs-Pelham (Timothy), Georgia Yvette Floyd (James), Adjoa Grubbs; grandchildren, Christian Jamison Floyd, George Chandler Floyd, Camryn Gabrielle Floyd, Taunee Martina Grubbs; sister, Ann Sims; mother-in-law, Tryphenia Wier and nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends
Pallbearers will be the Staff of George F. Grubbs Funeral Home.
Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews.
Floral bearers will be his nieces and friends.
The family request memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or the Pioneer Museum of Alabama.
Harmon Gerome Hughes
Mr. Harmon Gerome Hughes age 73 of Banks died Monday, March 13, 2006 in a Montgomery Hospital.
Funeral services for Mr. Hughes will be held Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Brundidge with Reverend Averyt Walker officiating. Burial will follow in
Shiloh Church Cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home of Brundidge directing. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 15, 2006 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Dillard Funeral Home in Brundidge.
He is survived by his wife, Talatha S. Hughes of Banks; 3 daughters and 2 sons-in-law, Gail H. Daniels, Glenda and Tim Hyde and Glory and James Benton all of Banks; 1 son and daughter-in-law, Gary L. and Debbie Hughes; 3 brothers and sisters-in-law, Herman B. and Jewell Hughes, Snap and Brenda Hughes and Joe Frank and Faye Hughes; 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to Shiloh Baptist Church.
