Tina Hyman Childs
Tina Hyman Childs, age 89, of Birmingham passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2006.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Childs.
She was born and raised in Clanton, Alabama.
She graduated from Livingston State Teacher's College in 1937 and later received her Masters Degree and AA Certificate in Guidance and Counseling.
She taught for 17 years at Jones Valley High School in Birmingham and transferred to Ramsay High School in 1958 as the girl's advisor in charge of counseling and discipline.
Tina was a member of several professional organizations where she served as president of many.
Some of her memberships included the national teacher's organization, Alpha Delta Kappa, Birmingham Education Association, Jefferson County Teacher's Association, Classroom Teachers, National Education and Alabama Education Associations and numerous retired teachers' associations.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Birmingham and The Club.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2006 at 10:30AM at the First Baptist Church of Birmingham.
A graveside will be held at 3:30PM at Oakwood Cemetery in Troy, Alabama.
The family will be receiving friends at the church Wednesday evening from 5:00-7:00.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial be made to the J.O.Y. Sunday School Class at the First Baptist Church of Birmingham,
2209 Lakeshore Drive, Birmingham, Alabama 35209.

Kenneth Doty
Mr. Kenneth Doty passed away Friday, July 7, 2006 at his residence in New Brockton, AL following a brief illness.
He was 65.
Memorial services will be 6:00 pm Thursday, July 13, 2006 from the Patterson-Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Cornelius officiating and family and friends giving the eulogy. The family will receive friends beginning at 5:00 pm.
Ken was born April 8, 1941 in Ridgewood N.J to the late Kenneth Doty, Sr. and Edith French Doty. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force from 1959 to 1967, having proudly served his country in Vietnam. He was a life member of the PGA of which during his career he played competitively in both Florida and Alabama, and most recently was the teaching golf professional at Tartan Pines in Enterprise.
Flowers will be accepted or contributions could be made to the YMCA, 904 Ozark Hwy, Enterprise, AL 36330.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanne E. Doty, New Brockton, AL; 1 daughter, Kristine Doggett, Enterprise; 2 sons, Sheldon Doty (Teresa), Troy, AL and
Shawn Doty (Cathy), New Bern, N.C.; 5 grandchildren, Jeremy and Thayer Doggett, Leslie Campbell, Charlie and Mary Bennett Doty; 1 great-grandchild, Breanna Campbell; several nieces and nephews.
