Manuel Alva Messick
Services for Manuel Alva Messick, 86, of Goshen, who died Dec. 9, 2006, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy with the Rev. William Leverett and the Rev. Marvin Jackson officiating.
Burial will follow at Green Hills Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Chris Thomas, Roy Folmar, Royce Stroud, Steve Byrd, David Messick and Kenneth Grice.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Messick was born in Goshen on March 31, 1920, to George and Lilla Messick.
Mr. Messick's son called him &uot; an extremely wise and gentle man loved by everyone he met.
He was always eager to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
&uot;Dad was a man of few words who labored to provide for his family always putting them first.
He was a wonderful husband, brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He worked his farm his entire adult life, adding chicken houses 40 years ago.
Dad will be missed by his family, his many friends and neighbors.&uot;
His brother, Reynolds Messick, and brother-in-law, Perry Wilkerson, preceded Mr. Messick in death.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lorine Messick; children, Kenny (Mickie) Messick and Jerry Messick of Goshen, Polly King of Banks, Jim (Julie) Messick of China Grove, Dollie (Tommy) Headley of Niceville, Fla.; a sister, Iris Wilkerson of Petrey; a sister-in-law, Louise Messick of Troy; grandchildren, Felicia (Eric) Williamson, Brittany Messick, Jamie, Chase, Angel, and Mak King, Jim T. Messick, and Julie T. (Terry) Hunt, Nikki Headley and Misti (Joseph) Markoch; great-grandchildren, Austin, &uot;Toot&uot; to his great grandfather, and Gus Williamson; step-grandchildren, Tristan and TJ Sessions, Sandra Gilhousen and Angela King.
David Shelby Dunn
A memorial service for David Shelby Dunn, 55, of Troy, who died at his home, Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006, will be at 11 a.m. today at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy with Brother James Alexander officiating.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service today at the funeral home.
His father, Shelby Dunn, preceded him in death.
Mr. Dunn is survived by his wife, Janice English Dunn of Troy; his mother, Lola Morgan Dunn of Troy; two sisters, Lynda (Lloyd) Todd of Arlington, Texas, and Deborah (William) Hobbs of Troy; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Memorials should be made to the Montgomery Wellness Foundation.
Dorothy Jean Pugh Horton
Funeral services for Dorothy Jean Pugh Horton, 66, of Troy, who died at her home in Troy, Friday, Dec. 8, 2006, will be at 2 p.m. today at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy with Roy Pugh officiating.
Visitation will be held 1 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
She is survived by her husband, Randall Horton of Troy; daughters, Marietta Kay Wiser, Rita Faye Godinez
and Patricia Sue (Dan) Darnel, all of Oregon; sons, Rickey Earl (Patty) Horton of Oregon, Randall Doil Horton Jr. of Alabama and Joseph Ray (April Christine) Horton of Mississippi; grandchildren, Rickey, Amanda, Dakota, Rebecca, J.R. and Samantha; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Morales, Sally Senn, Linda MeHaffey, Brenda Calhoun, Gail McCulligh, and Ann Dickey; brothers, Randy Pugh, Roy Pugh, Eddie Pugh, and David Pugh.
