Shelby Sanders Shirley Jr.

Funeral services for Shelby Sanders Shirley Jr., 91, of Good Hope, who died Friday, April 20, 2007, at his home, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Good Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. W.O. Sanders and the Rev. Wayne Locklar officiating.

Burial will follow in the Good Hope Cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.

Visitation will be from 1 until 2 p.m. Monday at the church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Shelby and Beatrice Thompson Shirley; sisters, Lucy Baggett and Nell Dillard; brothers, Allen, Murray and John Wiley Shirley; and a grandchild, Kim Shirley.

Mr. Shirley is survived by his wife of 71 years, Mary Edna Beard Shirley of Good Hope; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ralph and Betty Shirley of Good Hope and Bill and Rita Shirley of Good Hope; three grandchildren, Cindy and Bob Pinard of Las Vegas, Nev., Jim and Jennifer Shirley of Tallahassee, Fla., and Kevin and Marci Shirley of Good Hope; five great-grandchildren, Amanda Creel of Birmingham, Lindsey Creel of Savannah, Ga., Jacob Shirley of Good Hope and David and Laureen Shirley of Tallahassee, Fla.,

Serving as pallbearers will be the deacons of Good Hope Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Good Hope Cemetery Fund or Lighthouse Hospice of Troy.
