Pike County High boys top cross-county rival Goshen High School

GOSHEN – The Pike County Bulldogs beat the Goshen High School Eagles 64-42 here Saturday night in both teams’ regular season finale.
Both teams enter area tournaments next week. Goshen travels to Highland Home on Tuesday night, and Pike County will travel to Calhoun on Friday.
Quay Bailey led Pike County with 16 points. Torrey Wilson added nine points, and George Wilson contributed nine as well.
&uot;I told our guys, Let’s work on things we’re weak at&uot; Pike County coach Julius Young said. &uot;This was definitely a good warm-up for Calhoun.&uot;
The difference in the game was Pike County’s domination inside the paint.
&uot;It’s all or nothing for us now,&uot; Young said. &uot;This gave us a lot of momentum to carry into Calhoun.&uot;
The Bulldogs played a 3-2 zone defense the entire night, while the Eagles were in a 2-3 zone.
The Goshen loss leaves them winless in the regular season.
&uot;I’m proud of my guys because no matter what the score is, we’ll play to the end,&uot; said Goshen coach Jonathan Deveridge. &uot;My guys don’t quit.&uot;
For Goshen, Antwan Boswell had 13 points, while Justin Senn added nine points. Damien Logan contributed eight.
In girls’ action, Goshen defeated Pike County, 38-34. Whitney Sanford had 12 points for the Lady Eagles, while Destinie Barnes, Niyoka Slater, and Deanna Mcleod added five points each. Tiesha Adams led the Lady Bulldogs with 14 points, while Chanti Meadows sank 10. Ashley Flowers added three.
