The Troy Trojans enter this Saturday tied for first place in the Sun Belt Conference and they will face the worst team in the conference and statistically one of the worst in the nation.
The North Texas Mean Green are tied for 113th in the country in scoring offense with 16.9 points per game, while the Trojans are 34th in the nation at 32.2.
North Texas has not won a game so far this season, but Troy head coach Larry Blakeney is not going to take the team lightly.
“That would be dumb and we put it to the team that it would be stupid for us to overlook any opponent,” Blakeney said. “Every game left on our schedule with the exception of LSU is a championship game for us.”
The Mean Green also allow a conference-worst 50.7 points per game. The shining light for North Texas is an average of 255.9 passing yards per game. Troy is right behind the Mean Green in that category with 238.9 yards per game.
Troy also holds the best pass defense in the conference with 198.3 yards allowed per game. They currently are the second best team in the conference against the run, allowing 140.3 yards per game.
The Trojans stack up well with the rest of the conference, as they are in the Top-3 in total offense and total defense. Troy gains 419.8 yards per game and allows 338.7 per game, which is good for third and first, respectively.
Kickoff for the game is set for 6 p.m. tomorrow.
