Funeral services for Mr. Jerry Floyd will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Green Hills Funeral Home with Rev. Ellis Bush officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 4, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. at Green Hills Funeral Home.
Mr. Floyd, 62, of Troy, died Sunday, November 2 at his residence. He grew up in Troy and was a great left-handed pitcher in his youth. He retired after 32 years from Ford Motor Company, working from offices in Birmingham, Atlanta, Pensacola, and Dothan. He was founder/broker/owner of Alabama Florida Real Estate Connection and one of Troy University’s most loyal supporters. He was named honorary Mayor of Navarre Beach (FL), attended Calvary Baptist Church, and served in the Air Force Reserve from 1966 – 1972.
He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Brantley Floyd; daughter: Courtney (Matt) Zinke of Shalimar, FL; three grandchildren: Zach, Colton and Reed Zinke; brother: Billy S. (Eunice) Floyd; sister in law: Wiley White; brothers in law: Philip (Sondra) Brantley and Neal Brantley; 2 nieces: Terry (Brian) and Virginia; several aunts, uncles, lots of cousins and thousands of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Rodger and infant brother; and sister: Virginia Floyd.
Flowers will be accepted however, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association (448 S. Lawrence St, Montgomery, AL 36104) or the ALS Foundation (27001 Agoura Rd, Suite 250, Calabasas Hills, CA 91301), or charity of choice.
