PLAS area tourney done

The No. 5 Pike Liberal Arts Lady Patriots snagged the No. 3 seed in the AISA Class 3A Elite Eight with a 63-59 victory over Taylor Road Saturday at Huntingdon College in Montgomery.
Eady Pinckard, Rebecca Farrar and Katie Wiggins all came up big for the Lady Patriots (16-9) in the overtime victory in the consolation round of the 3A, Region 1 tourney. Pinckard led the way with 20 points, Farrar chipped in 19 points and Wiggins had 18 points.
The win puts the Lady Pats in the No. 3 seed from Region 1 for the AISA 3A state tournament that begins Friday.
PLAS faces Tuscaloosa, the No. 2 seed from Region 2 in the first round at noon at Huntingdon College.
The Patriots (12-13) were also in the consolation round Saturday, but they lost 47-44 to Glenwood.
Justin McLaughlin led the way with 18 points and eight rebounds.
Jared Henderson, Ross Hixon and Nick McLaughlin each added six points and McLaughlin had 10 rebounds.
The Patriots will face the Tuscaloosa in the Elite Eight Friday at 4:30 p.m. at Huntingdon.
