Funeral services for Virgie “Bo Pete” Wilcoxon will be held on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009 at 3 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Brundidge, with Rev. Charlie LaDon Foster officiating and George F. Grubbs Funeral Home directing.
Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009 from 12:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at George F. Grubbs Funeral Home.
Burial will follow the funeral service at the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Brundidge.
Virgie “Bo Pete” Wilcoxon was born the fourth child of Y. Z. Wilcoxon and S. C. Pryor on Oct. 28, 1931.
At an early age, he received Christ as his Lord and Savior.
He met and married Rosie Lee Richards on Aug. 21, 1954 and to this union eight children were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Y. Z. and S. C. Wilcoxon.
He leaves to cherish his memories: a loving and devoted wife, Rosie Lee Richards Wilcoxon; his children, Rosie Marie (Willie) Pearson, Virgie Mae Wilcoxon, Geraldine (Gregory) Green, Vivian Wilcoxon Foster, Nathan Wilcoxon, Roy Lee Wilcoxon, Jerry (Lucille) Wilc oxon, and Amos (LaShawn) Wilcoxon Foster, all of Troy; his sisters and brothers, Ina (C. B.) Wheeler of Brundidge, Verler Williams of Jacksonville, Fla., and Garnell Wilcoxon of Brundidge, Alabama; two sisters- in- law, Flora Richards of Spring Hill, Alabama, and Louise Newson of Brundidge; one brother- in-law, Grady (Mary) Richards of Troy; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three devoted friends, Dorothy Phillips and Harvey Clanton of Clewiston, Fla., and Maxine Robinson (a special niece); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
