NEW ORLEANS — Juniors Tiphanie Baker and Lamontrey Stamper were named the Sun Belt Conference Field Athletes of the Week for their performances at the FSU Relays, announced by the conference office this afternoon.

Baker continued her domination in the throws this weekend, with a gold and a silver in the hammer and discus. Baker broke the school record in the hammer with a throw of 53.36 meters, ironically breaking the school record she set this season. She also finished second in the discus with a throw of 44.97 meters. The medals are the sixth and seventh of the outdoor season for Baker in just her third outdoor meet of the season. The hammer throw is also the longest throw of the season in the Sun Belt Conference.

Meanwhile, Stamper was able to capture a pair of medals this weekend at the FSU Relays, both gold. He won the long jump with a distance of 7.32 meters to win the event by 0.09 meters. The junior also won the triple jump with a jump of 14.34 meters, just short of a personal best he set earlier this season. The long jump is the best jump in the Sun Belt Conference to date.

The awards are the first for the pair, but they represent the second and third awards received by the Trojans in the outdoor season with Agata Cichoszewska winning the Field Athlete of the Week last week for her performance at the Georgia Relays.

The Trojans are back in action this weekend at the Auburn Tiger Track Classic on Friday and Saturday.
