The Dixie Minor National League Rookie team is currently preparing for its district tournament on June 26.
Head coach Brian Floyd said he thinks his team is improving.
“They look pretty good,” Floyd said. “They’re progressing and the more we practice, the better we get.”
As the tournament nears, players are starting to get excited.
Right fielder Hunter Steed said he felt prepared to play.
“I can hit those balls now,” Steed said. “I’m not nervous.”
Pitcher Juhmir Lampley said he was excited about just being able to play some more.
“It feels good to be on tournament team because I can still get to hit and field and see all the other people I’ve played with,” Lampley said.
Floyd said he thought his team was prepared to perform under pressure.
“It’s hard to say about 9-year olds, but I think we’ll be prepared and we’ll do our best,” Floyd said.
Floyd also said he felt the players on the team were deserving of the honor of being on tournament team.
“If they made it this far, they all deserve to be out here,” Floyd said.
