James Emory Barefoot, 86 of Phenix City, Alabama , died Wednesday
July 22, 2009 at the Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 2:00pm (EDT) Saturday July 25th at the
Crawford Road Baptist Church in Phenix City with the Reverend Marvin Minton officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Phenix City.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6pm until 8pm at the funeral home. Serving as active pallbearers will be Christopher May, Brandon May, Brian Walsh, Ronnie Goodson, Johnny McInnis, Steve McInnis, LaDon Rodgers and Michael Rodgers. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Barry May, Larry Rodgers, Thomas Webster Adams,
Harold Wayne Adams, Donnie Barfield, David Shipman and Steve Shipman.
Mr. Barefoot was born October 31, 1922 in Pike County, Alabama son of the late Captain Mitchell Barefoot and Irene Adams Barefoot. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran. Mr. Barefoot was a long time member of the
Crawford Road Baptist Church and is preceded by his parents, four brothers and a sister.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Eunice Willoughby Barefoot of Phenix City, daughters, Lureen Osborn of Columbus, GA. and Ellen Gunter of Phenix City, sisters, Mildred Rodgers of Columbus, Thelma Rodgers of Phenix City, Annelle Mosely of Florida, Shirley Shipman of Birmingham, Alabama and Jean Hart of Florida, brother, Winton Barefoot of Union Springs, Alabama, 4 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
