The Goshen Quarterback Club will sponsor the first-ever Fan Day for the Goshen High School football team Saturday.
Adam Register, one of the event’s organizers, said the event will have plenty to offer the community.
“Basically, this will be a meet-and-greet where the community can come out and we can introduce all the varsity football players,” Register said.
“We’re going to have a live band, as well as a few booths where people will be selling different things to raise money for various organizations.”
However, since the event is a football fan day, Register said the event hopes to build a sense of anticipation for the upcoming season.
“It’s just a day to get together and try to get everybody excited about Goshen football,” Register said.
The implementation of Fan Day is an effort to get more of the Goshen community involved with the football program.
“We’re just trying to get more people involved,” Register said.
“Goshen used to be a real close-knit community where everybody supported everything, and I’m not saying it isn’t like that now. We just want to get the entire community, all the way from young people up to the older generations that may not have children involved with the program anymore, to be involved with Goshen football again.”
The event will be held at the Goshen High School Practice Field, beginning at 4 p.m. Saturday.
There will be food, as well as live music by The Fabulous Shades and Jay Hughes.
There will also be inflatables for children to play on.
Admission is $3 for everyone over the age of 12, while children 12 and under receive free admission.
