The fourth annual Trojan Invitational cross country meet took place Saturday at the Troy Sportsplex, and the Charles Henderson cross country team was on hand to provide a strong showing.
Five schools participated in the event, with CHHS taking second place in the girls’ team competition and third place in the boys’ team competition.
Both teams finished with 76 points total.
The meet took place the day after Charles Henderson’s homecoming, something CHHS head coach Steve Haug said made the event even harder to compete in.
“I thought both team did well,” Haug said. “This is a tough course to run on, but I am still pretty happy with how everyone ran.” In the individual standings, sophomore Sharlie Brooks was the only Trojan to place in the girls’ competition, as she finished fifth in the overall standings. On the boys’ side, seniors Andrew Bentley and Douglas McLendon were both able to place.
Enterprise won both the girls’ and boys’ team competitions, while Northview finished second in the boys’ team competition. Haug said the event could definitely be considered a success.
“We had a great showing here today from all the schools,” Haug said. “We’re very happy with how everything went today.”
