Former Auburn head coach Tommy Tuberville took the same position at Texas Tech University over the weekend and now has his sights set on a Troy coach to complete his staff.
Trojan offensive coordinator Neal Brown has been contacted by Texas Tech about the Red Raiders’ offensive coordinator position according to head coach Larry Blakeney.
“Neal called me this morning and told me he had been contacted by Texas Tech..”
“Everything came together in the last 24-hours or so to the best of my knowledge,” Blakeney said.
“But I have no problem with is,” the coach added.
Brown has been with the Trojans for the past four seasons, first starting out as the team’s wide receivers coach before replacing former Trojan offensive coordinator Tony Franklin.
When Brown became the offensive coordinator two years ago, he was the youngest in the nation to do so at the age of 27.
During that stretch, Brown’s offenses ranked 27th in 2008 and third in 2009 in the nation in total offense.
Brown was unavailable for comment.
As of 8:47 p.m. on Monday night, Brown had yet to talk to Tuberville or anyone at Texas Tech, according to Troy SID Ricky Hazel
