At the beginning of the spring season, Robin Snyder was coaching a Charles Henderson team on the diamond.
While that will still be the case when the 2011 season rolls around, Snyder will be coaching a different Trojan team.
At the Troy Board of Education meeting Monday night it was announced that Snyder would be taking over as head of the Trojan softball program, replacing former head coach Chad Lapp, who left to become the head football coach at his Alma Mater, Carroll High School.
“I am very excited about this opportunity,” Snyder said Monday night. “And the time was right for me to take the position and it just felt right.
“Coach Lapp did a good job of getting the program back on track and I hope to continue what he started,” Snyder added.
Last season, Snyder was the CHHS freshman baseball head coach as well as the Charles Henderson Middle School football coach.
While he will no longer be the baseball coach, he still will coach football.
The Trojans finished last season with a 19-19 overall record, and did not make it to the state tournament.
The new head coach said he expects the team to be able to improve upon that mark.
“We have a young squad but at the same time, it’s a veteran squad. These girls have a lot of experience,” Snyder said. “And when you have that, high expectations come with it.
“I am looking forward to getting things started with the girls, as soon as school starts – this is an exciting time,” he added.
