As the final seconds ticked down, the Charles Henderson Trojans were nearing its first victory of the year over Beauregard.
Qunitus Moss, however, was still hoping for one last opportunity, despite the win partially sealed for his Trojans – and he would get it on the last play of the game.
With already two touchdowns in the game, both coming via rushing attempts, Moss needed just one more to meet his self-imposed quote of three touchdowns a game.
Moss was able to pick off a Hornets’ Hail Mary pass and return it all the way to the endzone, giving the Trojans a 27-12 win.
“Coach told me that I did what he wanted me to do,” Moss said about the interception return.
“But more importantly, it felt good to get that win – we had to make a statement and I think we did.”
The senior defensive back finished the opener with two interceptions, caused and recovered a fumble and four solo tackles and three assists.
“We really wanted to get that first win out of the way,” Moss said.
“And to be able to help my team get that win is a pretty great feeling. “
