A three-vehicle crash on Friday night in Pike County claimed the life of an Abbeville woman. Francene N. Philips, 32, of Abbeville was a passenger in a 2007 Chevrolet Impala driven by Christopher L. Barrow, 33, of Troy when it crashed with two other vehicles outside of the Troy city limits.
Preliminary investigation indicates that Barrow was traveling north on US 231 when his vehicle crossed over the center line and struck a 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche driven by Christian V. Valverde, 18, of Troy. Barrow’s vehicle then struck a 2000 Chevrolet C1500 driven by Norman B. Baxley, 38, of Dothan. Barrow, Valverde, Baxley, and Billy Fulton, a passenger in Baxley’s vehicle, were transported to Troy Regional Medical Center and treated for non-life threatening injuries. Philips was pronounced dead at the scene by Pike County Coroner Jerry Williams.
The crash occurred at approximately 6:55 p.m about 1 mile south of Troy. State Troopers continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
