For the second-straight game, the Patriots of Pike Liberal Arts were on the road.
However, for the third consecutive game, the result was the same – a victory.
Since giving up nine and eight runs to Glenwood and Prattville Christian, both the PLAS pitching and the defense has settled down.
After giving up just three runs to Lakeside on Tuesday, that trend continued, as the Patriots recorded their fist shutout of the season, beating Crenshaw Christian 15-0 in five innings.
Leading the charge again was junior Nick McLaughlin.
Against CCA, McLaughlin finished 2-3 at the plate with four RBIs thanks to a Grand Slam. He also finished with a double and three runs scored.
In his last three games, McLaughlin has gone 6-9 at the plate, with two home runs, two doubles, nine RBIs and scored eight runs.
Also contributing on Thursday were Tatum Barnes, Lawson Stewart and Andrew Quincey, who all finished 2-4 with 2 RBIs.
Robert Benton continued to get on base, thanks to his two walks, but also struck out two times.
On the mound for the Patriots was junior Blake Floyd.
In his first start of the season, Floyd pitched four innings, giving up only two hits and two walks, while striking out four.
Sam Carroll finished the final inning, striking out two.
PLAS improved to 3-1 on the season and will be back in action on Monday in a double-header against Edgewood.
