The Troy Arts Council has completed its calendar of events for the 2011-12 year. Dr. William Denison, TAC president, said that the calendar is an outstanding one.
“Each year it is our goal to bring a variety of entertainment performances to Troy and Pike County,” Denison said. “We hope to have something of interest to everyone and to all ages. We think this year’s calendar has accomplished our goal.”
The TAC’s calendar of events kicks off with a Patrons’ Reception from 5:30 until 7 p.m. on Aug. 29 at The Studio on East Walnut Street in downtown Troy.
“The Patrons’ Reception is an opportunity for everyone to come together to enjoy the fellowship of friends and neighbors and to learn more about the Troy Arts Council and its role in the community,” Denison said. “It’s also the time when we invite the community to become patrons of the arts in support of our annual programming.”
The TAC’s fall events will begin on Sept. 26 with Christopher O’Riley, pianist, and continue on Oct. 17, with The Hunt Family, a program of violin and dance.
Sheila Jackson and Friends will bring local talent to the stage with the annual holiday concert on Dec. 9. Jackson and Friends are back again by popular demand.
The TAC’s winter season will feature the American Chamber Players on Feb. 28.
The spring calendar will feature percussionists Bob Becker and Russell Hartenberger with the Troy University Percussion Ensemble on March 22, and the Igudesman and Joo, piano/violin comedy team on April 12.
All Troy Arts Council events begin at 7 p.m. at the Claudia Crosby Theater on the campus of Troy University. Admission is charged.
