A Pike County resident was taken into custody Tuesday and charged with possession of marijuana first degree, which is a felony.
Chris Patterson, 26, of 6818 County Road 2261 is currently being held in the Pike County Jail.
Pike County Sheriff Russell Thomas said that members of the Pike County Sheriff’s Department executed a warrant at 6818 Country Road 2262 in the Springhill community Tuesday morning.
“During the search of the residence, about one pound of marijuana was located along with a set of digital scales and $750 in currency,” Thomas said. “Also located was a Taurus 9 mm pistol that was found to be stolen out of south Alabama.”
Thomas said there were three people in the house at the time of the search but no other arrests were made.
“The arrest went well. It was without incident,” Thomas said.
Thomas said some of the marijuana had been packaged as if for sale.
“The breakout street value of a pound of marijuana is around $2,400,” Thomas said.
The Pike County Sheriff’s Department was assisted in the search of the residence by the Ventress Prison dog team with the State of Alabama.
