CHMS basketball teams compete in Elba

ELBA – Charles Henderson Middle School’s boys an girls basketball teams will play for their respective championships in the Elba Basketball Invitation after each team picked up a victory on Tuesday.
Each team will play Daulphin (Enterprise) Middle School with the girls kicking off the action at 4 p.m. today. The boys will follow with the games taking place a Elba Elementary School.
The Lady Trojans advanced with a 33-17 win over host Elba. The boys also defeated Elba 39-36.
In the close victory for the boys, Cyree Foster finished with 14 points with Deanre Pitts adding 13 more. Nick Lewis chipped in with eight. Defensively, Colby Smith grabbed seven rebounds and Kris McKinney swipped five steals.
In the opening round, the girls topped Enterprise Junior High School, 53-14. The boys destroyed EJHS, 39-4. The Trojans were led by Kordell Anderson with eight points. followed by Foster with seven.
Lewis and McKinney added six each.
Smith grabbed 10 rebounds in the game and Will Worthington added four steals.
The boys are currently 4-0 on the season while the girls sport a 3-1 mark.
Charles Henderson Middle School’s 7th grade boys will next play at home Nov. 8 against Coppinville with the 8th grade teams taking on Daulphin Middle School immediately afterwards.
