Richard Deichmann

Richard Erwin Deichmann, age 72, formerly of Milford and beloved husband to Patricia McNamara Deichmann, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2011 in Goshen, AL. Born on February 4, 1939 in Bridgeport, he was the son of the late Erwin and Lousie Kalkert Deichmann. Richard was employed for over 50 years with Sikorsky Aircraft where he travelled extensively and ended his career as one of the most respected and admired authorities in crash damage engineering. He had many hobbies including flying airplanes, fixing cars and model trains. He was full of life and never met a challenge that he did not meet enthusiastically head on. Richard enjoyed conversation and was an avid traveler. He was a kind and loving husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his wife Pat of 41 years, he is survived by his cherished daughter Heidi Giaccone and her husband Joe of Killingworth, two grandchildren, Joseph and Emma and loving brothers, sisters-in-law, Howard Rocklen his lifelong friend and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. in Milford, CT. A memorial service will be held in Troy at a later date and will be announced by Green Hills Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bush Memorial Baptist Church Memorial Fund in Troy, or the American Heart Association.
