CHHS boy’s track team wins event, finishes 8th overall

Charles Henderson High School’s track and field team completed its 2012 season with the Alabama High School Athletic Association state meet over the weekend in Gulf Shores.
Overall, the boy’s team finished eighth in Class 5A with 23 team points.
Detorrian Green finished second in the 100 Meter Dash posting a time of 10.92 seconds. The finish earned Green an individual team-high eight points.
After qualifying second, Charles Henderson won the 4×100 meter relay, defeating St. Paul’s by just over a tenth of a second to score the Trojans 10 crucial points.
Zac Lewis earned five points with a fourth place finish in the long jump with a mark of 21-9 1/4.
Tre Collins, Tyler Mitchell, and Joshua Noel also competed in individual events for Charles Henderson.
The girl’s team finished 21st overall with 6.5 team points.
Cymphany Jones came in fourth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.54 to earn five points.
Camille Martin scored the team’s other 1.5 points with a seventh-place result in the high jump. Martin leapt 4-10.
The girl’s team barely missed the cut on qualifying for the 4×100 meter relay while Martin fell just short of earning points in the javelin throw.
Sharlie Brooks, who signed with West Alabama earlier this year, competed in the 1600 meter and 3200 meter run for the Trojans but finished 17th and 15th respectively.
