The Alabama Associated Press Managing Editors awards were given out in Birmingham on May 5 and The Messenger brought home 14 awards this year in its circulation category.

Messenger Sports Editor Wes Johnson won second and third place in the Sports Feature category and third place for Sports Column.

Features Editor Jaine Treadwell won first place for Deadline Reporting and third place for Lifestyle Feature.

Former Sports Editor Greg Rossino took home third place in Headline Writing.

Photographer Thomas Graning won eight awards, including first place in Photography Portfolio; second place in Sports Action Photo; first and second place in Spot News Photo; first and second place in Sports Feature Photo; and second place in Humorous Moments Photo
