Five members of the Pike Liberal Arts baseball team and one softball player will represent the school at the 2012 AISA All-Star games in June.
Lawson Stewart, Nick McLaughlin, Blake Floyd, and Josh Starling will play in the senior all-star game on June 4, at 7p.m. while Taytom Barnes will take part in the junior game at 4p.m.
Both games will be played at Paterson Field in Montgomery.
Joselyn Jones will represent the softball team in the junior game at 5p.m. on June 5.
“It’s a great honor for these kids,” head coach Butch Austin said. “They all had great seasons and earned it.”
For the regular season, Stewart batted .340 with 23 RBI. He also led the team in walks with 22. Stewart paced the Patriot pitching staff in 2012 with a 7-2 record and 1.73 ERA.
McLaughlin hit .405 with 26 RBI and three home runs.
Floyd was solid at the plate as well as on the mound. The senior catcher batted just .250 but drove in 32 runs, good for second on the team. Floyd was 2-1 on the mound with a 3.85 ERA.
Starling was 6-0 for the Patriots this season with a 0.99 ERA and was second in strikeouts with 52.
As a junior, Barnes led the team in RBI (36), and was tied for tops in doubles (9) and HR (5). Barnes was also 2-0 on the mound.
Joselyn Jones did not have any stats available but played a huge role offensively on a Patriots softball team that missed the postseason by just a single game.
