It was a close call on Dean Street in Troy when a train collided with the back of a car attempting to cross the tracks.

Police reported that a witness told them the driver of the car, Briana Hooten, 20, was using her cell phone at the time of the crash.

There were no injuries as a result of the wreck that happened about 2:20 p.m., but the red 2001 Pontiac Grand Am involved did sustain damage, according to Troy Police Sgt. Benny Scarbrough.

The back bumper was ripped off and lying near the train tracks after impact and the driver’s side of the car was scraped and bent. Scarbrough said Hooten was able to drive the vehicle away from the scene.

The train was heading away from the city and came to a rest about seven train cars down from where the crash happened. There was no damage to the train, Scarbrough said.

No charges will be filed related to the crash. Troy Police, Troy Fire Department and CARE Ambulance all responded to the scene.
