Troy baseball announces four spring signees

Troy baseball head coach Bobby Pierce signed four athletes on Monday. The new signees will join the seven players who inked scholarships in the fall.
“I feel like with this class, we are addressing our pitching needs and building depth in out staff to help push the program to the next level,” Pierce said. “The players we signed fill our immediate needs and give us a well-rounded class.”
Shortstop Garrett Pitts, outfielder David Hall, right-handed pitcher Austin Sullivan and catcher Justin Hancock have all signed to play for the Trojans in 2013.
Pitts is a junior college transfer from Central Alabama Community College. He origanally signed will Mississippi before transferring to CACC.
Hall played last season a Indian River Community College and batted .373 with 11 home runs.
Sullivan, from Northwest Florida State College, was 2-1 last year with a 2.05 ERA with 45 strikeouts in 30 innings.
Hancock is a product of Enterprise High School and played last season at Central Alabama.
Joining the new additions will be former Pike Liberal Arts Patriot Will Starling. Starling signed in the fall before going 5-6 with a 4.85 ERA for Southern Union Community college last season as a sophomore. In 2010, Starling was 11-4 with a 2.89 and help lead his team to the junior college World Series.
T.J. Bender, Ben Tidwell, Trae Santos, Matthew Howard, Tanner Hicks, and Enterprise’s Levi Tate round out the Trojans 2013 recruiting class.
