Cuba Thomas Sims, age 88, died Sunday, June 10, 2012 at her home.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at 3 p.m. from the Good Hope Baptist Church with Reverends Wayne Locklar, Rick Hayes and Mike Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 12, 2012 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy. There will also be a one hour lie-in-state at the church prior to the service.
She is survived by her children, Willodeen and Ben Killough, James Sims, and Joe and Gail Sims; her grandchildren; Teresa and Brian Hicks, Brian and Amanda Killough, David Sims, Crystal and Mike Westrick, Terri and Jamie Austin, Kelli and Aric Walker; her great-grandchildren, Joel and Justin Hicks, Jaxon Westrick, Chasta Westrick, Austin and Andrew Walker and Jake Austin; her sisters-in-laws, Katherine Thomas, Vivian Thomas and Eleanor Freeman; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jakie Austin Sims, her parents, Henry and Nurnie Thomas; sisters, Neoma (Allen) Shirley, Virginia Knight, and Glenetta (Harper) Grant; her brothers, Wilbun Thomas, Jack (Ivynell) Thomas, Ray (Vonnie) Thomas, Henry Thomas Jr., and Emory Thomas.
Memorial may be made to the Good Hope Cemetery fund or Hospice Advantage of Alabama.
Active pallbearers will be Brian Hicks, Brian Killough, David Sims, Aric Walker, Jamie Austin, Mike Westrick, and Russell Thomas.
Honorary pallbearers will be the members of her Sunday school class and the Choir at Good Hope Baptist Church.
