Troy Belles, Darlings fall in District Tournament play

Geneva 5, Troy 3

Troy’s Dixie Belles were unsuccessful in their first game of their district play as they fell to Geneva 5-3.

Both teams were able to string two runs in the first inning and it remained even steven until Geneva was able to score two runs in the third and one in the fourth to put them ahead for the rest of the night.

Troy would add a consolation run late in the seventh. For Troy, Haley Hughes was 1-for-3 and Casey Allen was 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Katie Thomas, Sh’ana Lee and Carmen Kelly each had hits as well.

Dothan Americans 19, Troy 8

After coming off a successful sub-district tournament, Troy’s Dixie Darlings were unable to survive a shootout against the Dothan Americans, falling 19-8.

Dothan would jump on top in the first with eight, leaving Troy with the task of playing catch up. They were able to score four in the first, but Dothan answered right back in the second with four runs of their own.

Troy scored two in the third, but Dothan had another explosive inning with seven runs in the fourth. Troy scored two in the fourth, but the game was called shortly after.

For Troy, Libby Barnes went 1-for-2, Alyssa Terry went 2-for-2, Morgan Bundy went 2-for-2, McKenzie Cain went 1-for-2, Raegan Brown went 2-for-2, Maggie English went 1-for-2, Sadie Leverette went 1-for-2 and Railyn Williams went 1-for-2.

Troy plays tonight against the loser of Opp vs. Slocomb.
