Taylor/Rehobeth scores big in Dixie Boys tournament

Taylor/Rehobeth 24, Ashford 13

The first game of the Dixie Boys District 6 tournament turned into a slugfest with Taylor/Rehobeth eventually besting Ashford after exploding for seven runs in the second, eight runs in the fourth and six in the sixth.

For Taylor/Rehobeth, Cody Menci went 3-for-5 with two RBI, Cameron Martin went 4-for-5 with five RBI, Matt Bennett went 2-for-3 with three RBI and Hunter Smith went 2-for-2 with four RBI.

For Ashford, James Lisenby went 3-for-3 with a grand slam, JoJo Seale went 2-for-2 with an RBI, Cody Hayes went 1-for-2 with two RBI and Alex Rodriguez went 1-for-2 with an RBI. Both teams had six strikeouts.

Enterprise 13, Dothan 0

Enterprise made quick work of Dothan in the first game of the Junior Dixie Boys District Tournament, taking them down 13-0 through five innings.

For Enterprise, Hunter Windham went 2-for-2 with two RBI, Hunter Lunsford went 2-for-2 with an RBI, Santiago Garcia went 2-for-3 with three RBI and Hunter Marcer went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

For Dothan, Cole Brooks had a single. Enterprise will move on to face the winner of Troy vs. Ozark, while the loser will face the loser of the late game.

Dothan 15, Greenville 1

Leading 6-1, Dothan scored nine runs in the sixth inning to defeat Greenville 15-1 in the Dixie Boys District 6 tournament in Troy.

Dothan’s Hayden Payne struck out 12 batters and allowed just three hits in six innings of work on the mound.

For Dothan, Brent Long and Cade Bonds were each 2-for-3. Payne, Logan Herndon, Bryant Roney, Casey Applin, Ethan Crews, and Will Bridges also had hits. Brandon White singled and scored in the second inning for Greenville’s only run. Austin Vickery was 2-for-3 in the loss.

Dothan will play Taylor/Rehobeth today at 8 p.m. Greenville will take on the loser of the Eufaula-Geneva game that began late Thursday.
